ColourFoil Process
ColorFoil technology. You won’t believe your eyes — or the control you have.
Carlson Print Group is one of the only printers west of the Mississippi who offers the unique ColourFoil process and the stunning results it produces.
The ColorFoil process lays actual metallic foil into images and graphics. Foil and ink merge seamlessly to create stunning effects. This process gives us so much control of your project that you can specify exactly which areas of a piece you want to treat. And thanks to the highly precise in-line process, your projects get perfectly registered images every time.
You can apply this custom look to any marketing materials, from calendars to packaging to point-of-sale displays. In fact, about the only limit is your imagination, and our expert team will be happy to push you beyond the limits of your usual thinking by providing you with ideas, CAD design services, mockups and more.
Here's a quick summary of the ColourFoil process:
- The foil in the process is just that — actual foil, not an ink. In the process, the foil goes down first and then ink goes on top of it.
- The ColourFoil process is environmentally safe. Foil can be recycled similar to any printed material and there are no polymers transferred to printed sheets during the process.
- The ColourFoil process is consumer safe. It's been tested and approved for use in the toy industry where some of the strictest standards apply.
- The ColourFoil process is cost effective. You'll also find that it's a great value because of its high-impact effect and potential to show results in audience response to your marketing materials.
- As with any printing job you do with Carlson Print Group, you can see and approve a proof of your image(s) with the ColourFoil effect before we go to prep.

For best results, we recommend using coated papers with the ColourFoil process.
