New diecutter, folder/gluer greatly enhance production capabilities of Carlson Print Group

Bloomington, MN - Responding to heightened customer demand for packaging printing and converting and excellent company growth, Carlson Print Group just acquired new state-of-the-art diecutting and folding/glueing equipment.

The two pieces, manufactured by Swiss-based Bobst Group, considerably increase Carlson Print Group's capabilities for specialized diecutting and finishing. In addition, the speed, efficiency, and quality of the equipment provides customers with better pricing and project turn-around times.

"Our company has been experiencing wonderful growth," said Don Gossen, Carlson Print Group sales manager. "In order to continually stay competitive in turn times and pricing, we've invested in equipment that will offer a lot of benefits to our customers."

The new Bobst Evoline 102-E Diecutter offers outstanding reliability, speed, and quality, while the Bobst Amazon folder-gluer allows for fast make-readies and competitively meets the increasing demand for short-to-medium runs.

"Flexibility and efficiency are the key benefits of our new equipment," said Gossen. "They give us the ability to work with tighter tolerances and more complex cuts, all while offering our customers exceptional price/performance ratios."

"Now, more than ever," he continued, "we're extremely competitive when it comes to finishing options. This new equipment allows us to do longer runs and more complicated pieces at rates below or similar to our competition. Plus, it comes with the unmatched quality and service that Carlson Print Group is known for."

Carlson Print Group currently has over 800 standing die lines and dies, which translate into considerable savings for customers. Standing dies include standard and custom-designed pocket folders, compact disk sleeves and mailers, envelopes, packaging/boxes, and many unique direct-mail shapes and sizes.

Carlson Print Group, a division of American Spirit Graphics, is a full-service printing company offering a complete range of prepress, printing, and finishing services. CPG Expands Print Capabilities with New Six-Color Press

Bloomington, MN - Carlson Print Group recently purchased a new six-color Mitsubishi offset press to add to its arsenal of printing and bindery equipment. In excellent condition, the new press was set up and tuned by Mitsubishi's service technicians in a matter of just weeks. It has been operating at full capacity since late May 2003.

The new press boasts six inkwells (which can accommodate four color process colors, plus two spot colors) and an aqueous coating system. It also houses the patented Delta Dampening System, a water roller system that allows the press's print blanket to perform cleaner and virtually hickey-free. Customers will notice smooth, dense solids, sharp halftones and clean reverse text treatments.

Another recent addition to the CPG equipment list is the Gerber Sector Coating Blanket Production System. This system automatically produces coating blankets quickly and accurately for "true spot aqueous coating". The Gerber system trims production time and improves customer satisfaction.

"Our new press and Gerber system expand our production capabilities," said Don Gossen, CPG's sales manager. "We can now take on larger print runs and turn them around in amazing speed, as well as safely accommodate our existing production load. The new press also helps us avoid down time during regularly scheduled maintenance of our presses."

To announce the new press, CPG partnered with Pernsteiner Creative Group, a Bloomington-based graphics and advertising firm, to create a memorable printing capabilities piece. The piece, a humorous "baby announcement", utilized many of Carlson's capabilities, including: full color printing, spot metallic printing, multi-level embossing in multiple locations, die-cutting, pop-up binding and scoring, and spot aqueous coating using the Gerber coating system. The announcement was then hand-bound with a ribbon and baby pin for full effect.

"We were so excited about our new press and equipment that we decided to announce it in grand style. Our customers got a chance to have a little chuckle and see what we're truly capable of -- humor and amazing production capabilities," stated Gossen.

Carlson Print Group, a division of American Spirit Graphics, also operates two additional six-color presses, one two-color press, and a full range of Mac and PC-based prepress, along with a full bindery and finishing equipment department.
